Strategic HR Management Overview

Overview

IANR Human Resources makes strategic efforts to continuously improve our HR processes and the support provided to our faculty and staff. Our long-term vision includes more accessible metrics and data, increased open communication, and plans for the future success of IANR through workforce planning and succession management.

What's Happening Now

In order to ensure that IANR is meeting the needs of our staff, we are constantly evolving and improving our HR operations and programs. We are also taking measures to monitor the progress against our goals to ensure we’re spending the time, energy and resources on the things that will have the most impact.

Focus Groups

In 2014, IANR conducted focus groups with individuals across IANR to gather feedback on what is most critical to our employees. We wanted to find out what’s working, and what’s not. This feedback is strongly aiding us as we shape the direction and efforts of the INSPIRE talent management project.

Employee Survey

In January 2015, we conducted our first IANR staff-wide employee survey. As we continue to work on the culture of IANR, we wanted to ensure all employees had the opportunities to provide feedback and input. Thank you to everyone who responded, as this is critical to our ongoing success. We are analyzing the results and will report them to you by the first part of April. This survey is intended to be conducted each year to ensure our efforts are having the intended impact.

In addition, we’re working on ways to improve communication with our staff. Our new HR web site was a big piece of that. We also created the INSPIRE listserv as an avenue to provide important updates about our progress – be sure to join!

Finally, we have had opportunities to share our experiences, challenges, and successes with the industry. This INSPIRE talent management journey is progressive, especially for an educational institution, so we are excited to share lessons learned and to learn from others. IANR presented at the Society for Human Resources (SHRM) Nebraska Conference in the fall of 2014, and shared our story at the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA) in April of 2015.
